The Ashley Hearth AW1820E Wood Stove Insert is a powerful and efficient solution designed to transform an inefficient open fireplace into a high-performance heating system. Built as an airtight wood-burning insert, the AW1820E significantly improves heat output while reducing fuel consumption and emissions.
Delivering up to 69,000 BTUs, this insert is capable of heating areas up to 1,200 sq. ft., making it ideal for small to medium-sized living spaces. The unit features a heavy-duty 3/16″ reinforced plate steel firebox, fully lined with firebrick for durability, heat retention, and long service life.
A cast iron feed door with a large 16.5″ x 9″ ceramic glass window provides a stunning view of the fire, while the integrated air wash system helps keep the glass cleaner for longer. The included variable-speed 100 CFM blower circulates warm air efficiently throughout the room, maximizing usable heat.
The AW1820E meets the strict EPA 2020 Step 2 emissions standards for wood-burning appliances and is designed to burn cordwood, accepting logs up to 18 inches in length. It includes a full hearth surround (31″ x 44″) for a clean, finished installation and features a spring-loaded automatic adjustment system that simplifies installation into existing fireplaces.
This model is the direct replacement for the Vogelzang TR004 Colonial and US Stove Company 2200IE inserts, offering updated performance and compliance with modern emissions standards.

We love it. It has a small firebox, so you need to learn how to start it well, but the upside is that it burns very efficiently. We generally don’t burn more than 8 16 inch logs a day. It also looks very nice in the fireplace.

This wood stove fit into my existing fireplace well and has worked without issue so far. Assembly was very easy minus the surround. The directions could be better there, but we still go it assembled. Overall, this seems like a quality stove that should last a long time.
